Cook N Home 15 Piece Non stick Black Soft handle Cookware Set

I purchased this set when moving into a new apartment. I cook perhaps twice a week for 4 people and this set has held up to typical use and abuse from 4 guys. My girlfriend is jealous because she spent double on some other set but likes these better.

-The grooved bottoms trap soap sometimes which proceeds to burn.

-The larger two-handled pots are hard to drain water from without using a colander.

Excellent pressure cooker. Easy to use. It is clear that this pressure cooker is very well made and I love the fact that it has a stainless steel inner pot and not non-stick Teflon. At this introductory pricing, one can buy 2 and still have money left over vs buying the most popular brand here on Amazon. Most pleased.

Update 5-16-2015

After using this pressure cooker at least 3 times a week, it still performs beautifully. I especially like the egg function. 3 min on the high setting makes hard-boiled eggs with the yellowest yolk and set-but-still-tender egg white. No dark sulfur rings at all and best of all, it is so easy to make. I have also used the pot-in-pot technique to make dishes directly in the serving dishes (basically using the pressure cooker as a high-pressure steamer) for stews and oatmeal and they came out perfect as well. This method allows me to cook different dishes consecutively and cuts down on the dishes to wash. :)

One great thing about this electric pressure cooker is that is is absolutely quiet when cooking and emits basically no vapor so your house is not filled with the smell of whatever you're cooking. Can't say the same thing about the stove-top pressure cooker or the slow cooker.

This pressure cooker should not be used as a canner as the pressure changes during the cooking process. It is not designed for that.

I'm very pleased with the initial quality of this pressure cooker and I hope it is built to last.

Update 7-6-2015

The pressure cooker is still going strong. I have been making yogurt with this. It can accommodate 7 8oz mason jars. I just mix some store bought yogurt and milk and pour the mixture into the jars. Add luke warm water to the pot until it almost reaches the level of the milk in the jar. 12 hours later, I have really tasty home made yogurt. Much more economical than keep buying yogurt plus I know it has no additives. :)

Hamilton Beach 33461 Stay or Go 6-Quart Portable Slow Cooker

I purchased this particular slow cooker after doing some research on 6-qt. units. I have two 3 1/2-qt. slow cookers and I wanted a larger one so I could make larger quantities. This particular unit was very much in my price range and I decided to go for it. So far I have been very happy with it.

This slow cooker has three temperature settings - Warm, Low and High. Low and High should be obvious for anyone who uses slow cookers. Heating so far has been even and consistent. The Warm setting is not for cooking but to maintain temperature after cooking is complete. My smaller crock pots do not have this feature so this feels like a luxury to me now.

The lid also locks in place so that the slow cooker can be transported with food in it with a reduced risk of spilling the contents. There's a latch for clamping the lid down and it is neither too tight nor too loose - it feels about right. If the slow cooker is properly secured (such as in a box) so that it does not tip, spilling should be minimized.

One concern I had when researching was that I saw many complaints regarding pressure build-up and ultimately shattered lids while transporting locking-lid slow cookers. I did not see any reports of that with this particular slow cooker and now that I have it, it's obvious why this is the case. Hamilton Beach apparently pays attention to the reports as well and they have made an adjustment to this slow cooker to eliminate the issue - there are two steam holes in the lid that prevent the pressure from building up. According to the documentation that comes with the slow cooker, the heating temperatures have been adjusted to compensate for these holes, and in using this slow cooker I would agree that the holes in the lid seem to have no effect on the cooking times and temperatures.

The lid and liner are dishwasher safe. This is a nice bonus for those who prefer not to wash by hand. I likely will not rely on the dishwasher for cleaning my slow cooker but it's nice to know that I have the option.

Overall, I am very satisfied with this slow cooker and based on my experience I am happy to recommend it. It is priced right and it works well.

Hamilton Beach 33969A Set 'n Forget Programmable Slow Cooker, 6-Quart

My very old crock pot did a great job and I loved it. Sadly, the crock broke and I couldn't find a replacement. I bought another "slow" cooker but it cooked WAY too fast. I could set it to cook for 10 hours and the food was done (and starting to burn) after just 4 hours. It wasn't practical to leave it and go to work for the day. I kept it for a few years but it was relegated to the basement because I couldn't trust or use it. I had to get a new slow cooker.

After searching several sites, and reading a lot of reviews, I found this Hamilton Beach 33969 6-Qt cooker. I was drawn to it when I saw some reviews which stated it didn't cook too fast. The meat probe, different program modes, and lock/carry option were all nice bonuses.

I've now had this cooker for a few months and I'm working on my second round of filling up the freezer with foods prepared in it. I live alone so the 6-Qt is great for making a lot of food and freezing it for later use. Of course, the food is excellent the day that I cook it as well. I've had things cooking as long as 10 hours on low and nothing has ever burned or overcooked. The cooker drops down to warm after the cooking time has elapsed.

I've read some negative reviews (every product in the world has some of those), but I've seen nothing bad about this cooker. It cooks slow (as one would expect), it cooks thoroughly, and everything tastes great. Clean-up is very simple - nothing sticks since it's not overcooked. The hole in the cover for the probe also allows some steam to escape (it doesn't affect the cooking) so that I can still look in and see the cooking progress without having to remove the lid and release all of the heat. Programming is very easy with this cooker as well. London broil came out very tender, roasts, ribs, and chicken were cooked perfectly, sides (potatoes, mac and cheese, etc) came out great, and even pasta dishes have been made successfully.

After my last experience with the cooker which burned everything, I was gun-shy with a new cooker. I'm just so happy that I jumped back in and bought this one. Hamilton Beach did a great job with this cooker!

My Thai wife used to make fun of me because I made rice with a covered pan. For a couple of years she humored me, then told me she wanted me to get a rice cooker. After looking around some, I chose this one, and I have to give it to her, she was absolutely right. :) It is effortless to make perfect rice every time, once you learn the secret. The secret is to choose the right setting on the machine, and to use less water than you are probably used to. For Thai Jasmine rice, we use 1 measurement of rice to 1.5 measurements of water and use the white setting. (it does not matter if it is a half cup, cup, or one of the rice cookers cups, which is about 3/4 of a cup)

Just for the rice alone, this would be a good purchase, but the truth is, I use it for far more than rice. Being able to wake up to real grits, as opposed to the quick variety, steel cut oatmeal, my wife's rice porridge, etc. are all easily done with this cooker using the porridge setting. One accessory I would definitely recommend is The Ultimate Rice Cooker Cookbook : 250 No-Fail Recipes for Pilafs, Risottos, Polenta, Chilis, Soups, Porridges, Puddings and More, from Start to Finish in Your Rice Cooker which provides a wide variety of possibilities for this handy time-saver. :) At the very least, it will give you ideas for how to use the cooker to widen your possibilities in the kitchen, though you may have to experiment a little with some of the recipes.

BTW...another reviewer said it was 'fussy to clean'. I HATE washing dishes, and I find it easy to clean. Remove the pan, wipe it down, remove the lid and wash with a kitchen sponge, rinse and dry, wipe down the lid of the cooker, and put it back together. All in all, it takes about a minute and a half. Heh, I do not consider that 'fussy'. :)

I purchased this 10 cup Electric Rice Pressure cooker after owning a smaller Cuckoo one for several years.
